Sam Northwood previews tomorrow’s first League 1 away game of the season against Morecambe.
Venue: Globe Arena
Competition: League One
Time: 15:00
Head to Head record: Played 14, 7 Shrewsbury Town wins , 3 Draws, 4 Morecambe wins
Town will travel to Morecambe for the first away trip of the season. It’s also the first away game with away supporters allowed since February 2020.
Last time the two clubs met was in December 2017 in the FA Cup when Town ran out 2-0 winners with goals from Alex Rodman and Shaun Whalley.
After winning the League 2 play off final last season it quickly started to go downhill for Morecambe, they lost the manager Derek Adams to Bradford and then also lost a number of their key players. But new manager Stephen Robinson has got the team off to a good start with a draw in the opening game away at Ipswich and then an impressive win in the League Cup against Blackburn.
After the great comeback on Tuesday night, Town will hope to build on that going into this game. With the departure of Ollie Norburn Town now look short in midfield so reinforcements will be coming in. New signing Sam Cosgrove is likely to play a part in the game at some stage. Tom Bloxham could also push for a start.
