Sam Northwood previews tonight’s League 1 away game against Portsmouth.
Venue: Fratton Park
Kick off: 1945
Head to Head: Played 24, 10 Shrewsbury Town wins, 4 draws, 15 Portsmouth wins
Town will make the long trip to Portsmouth hoping to kickstart their season.
Last time the two clubs met was in March with Pompey winning 2-1 at the Montgomery Waters Meadow.
Pompey have had a crazy transfer window so far, they’ve let go 22 players (including youth) and signed 12 players including ex Town midfielder Louis Thompson. Pompey have made the perfect start to the season. They beat Fleetwood and Crewe without conceding a goal which doesn’t make good reading for Town who are yet to score a league goal.
After the poor performance on Saturday at Morecambe, the travelling Town fans will want to get rewarded with a decent performance. Sam Cosgrove showed good signs when coming off the bench against Morecambe which will give the side a boost coming into this game. Cotterill will be desperate to see a good performance from Nathanael Ogbeta who Cotterill has publicly asked for better performances after not impressing so far this season.
